Don Randi & Blackstar
Don Randi was a member of the legendary "Wrecking Crew". (a group of top Los Angeles session musicians in the 1960s best known for their work on Phil Spector productions, and The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" album.) I love this Black Star album, too. . . when Def and Kweli getting back together for another album!?

Mos' Mathematics
The Fatback Band iss an American funk and disco band formed in New York. They've had a string of Top 10 R&B hits, and it is their 1979 single "King Tim III (Personality Jock)" which is considered by many to be the first rap single.

Mos and Faith's Brown Sugar
Norman Connors hails from Philadelphia. I swear we're responsible for any and all good music you like right now! Anyways, he actually grew up in the same area as Bill Cosby, and went to Temple, where he studied music. Although known for his R&B records, Connors studied jazz, getting exposure to the genre as a child.

Ms. Fat Booty
I think it's hilarious that Mos used an Aretha sample for this song. . . . maybe just a tad bit short of ironic. . .

If anybody doubted the versatility and genius of Mos Def, I think this track puts that all to bed. I mean, this is a legit slow jam! Baby makin music! Did you ever think you'd be able to legitimately convince your lady to make babies with you to Mos Def?!
