Bobby Byrd was a long time co-vocalist for James Brown, appearing on such songs as Licking Stick - Licking Stick", "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine" and "Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved". The two met back in the day when Brown was at a youth detention center. In fact, Byrd's family took Brown in when he was released. You see, loyalty is everything, people! Byrd was a member of James Brown and the Famous Flames, which was actually a reincarnation of the Avons, a group which Byrd himself founded. Unfortunately, Bobby Byrd passed away from cancer in September 2007.
