They say pain makes for incredible art. That couldn't be any more truer than in the case of Mary J. Blige. When she was drugged up and in that wild ass relationship with K-Ci, she was puttin out that product! Timeless music, man. . . . just timeless.

Love Changes
Mary J. and Jamie rocked this joint.
Mother's Finest is an interracial rock group from Atlanta. So all that "experimentation" you see coming out of Atlanta, with the likes of Cee-Lo, the Dungeon Family, etc. . . just know that it's nothing new. Atlanta has pushed the musical envelope for many, many decades.

Mary Jane Girls
The Mary Jane Girls were a popular American R&B, Soul, Funk and Pop group in the 1980s. The lead singer, JoAnne McDuffie, was a former background singer for Rick James. Of course, the name is obviously a reference to Rick James' love for that reefer!

Love Is All We Need
I love this Mary J. track! I don't know, it's just a well written song, and Nas is the perfect compliment. If it was any other rapper, I don't think the track would work as well.

Get Familiar With The Stylistics
The Stylistics are one of the more famous groups to come out of the whole Philadelphia soul era. On a side note, as a native Philly cat, it warms my heart to have my city have an entire sound (the Philly sound) attributed to us. Hell, it has its own entry in Wikipedia!
But I digress. The Stylistics first big hit was "You're a Big Girl Now", but it certainly wasn't their last. You know what, I'm just gonna drop some hits from then right now so you can see how we get down in Philly. You feel me?!

The Stylistics - You're A Big Girl Now
Ghostface Killah - Big Girl**
**It starts w/ that "Strung Out" sample (which you can find here! just search. . . . ), but let the song play. . . Ghost just uses the track with The Stylistics still singing on it. . . . But he makes the shit work!
